we are cuttin' potatoes...

This is what our house looks like this morning.
Matthew was eager to help Grandma
cut the potatoes and make them into squares.

This weekend I have been thinking about how lucky we are to be so close the headquarters of the church. My cousin from Rexburg who recently returned home from an honorable Mission, came to Salt Lake to go to Conference with a women he baptized in May. She is from Mississippi, she flew in on Friday afternoon, they spent time downtown at the temple and then my parents drove them to Draper, Oqrriuh, and Jordan River temple. In one day Mitzi saw four Temples! We talked about how on her way to Rexburg she would be able to see four more. Bountiful, Ogden, Idaho Falls and the Rexburg, potentially five if they wanted to detour to Logan. Stephanie also had one of her companions from Maryland here. As I watched both of these women enjoy Salt Lake and all that they were seeing for the first time. I realized all the things that I have taken for granted. I am lucky to live so close to all the Temples and blessings that come with attending the Temple.
After everyone attended Conference we all went out into our backyard and pick grapes for my cousin to juice. In the eight years we have lived here I have managed to miss the grape picking. I told my mom this as I was picking grapes for the first time. Mitzi looked at me and said "This is my first time too! We get to experience a first together." She then continued "You all are an inspiration to me. I keep thinking about my family and wishing they could get there act together." I told her that in time they will. I thought of Elder Hollands talk An High Priest of Good Things to Come, "Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ. they come." I know that for Mitzi the blessings of an eternal family maybe far away, but as she continues to embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ her blessings will come. I am so grateful for this reminder, to know that as I continue to do live my life to the fullest, by living the gospel of Jesus Christ I will be blessed.
